Waste Fryer Oil Flyer

Not sure where to dump your used fryer oil?

GO Green LLC Website

Just as an expose on what can be done with "waste"... lets look at a few things that we currently throw away and see what else Go Green can do for you*:
1. Construction Debris - When acceptable material is collected it is de-nailed and given to habitat for humanity restore
2. Roof Shingles - Become Road Asphalt
3. Interior Trim & Wood Floors - Collected and sold to be reused in another house.
4. Brick - When not broken it is collected and given to a brick yard.

*Disclaimer - we are not informed with where/how materials are recycled by Go Green. For additional questions please contact Christian christian@dcgogreen.com

What are some of the items you use in your house that you currently throw away that you would think you should recycle? and why?

Recycling Revolution -- Turning Old Plastic Bottles Into Valuable Recycled Materials

Because we have been reading all about recycling and ways to recycle/etc in order to create go green's website, I stumbled along this article about recycling old plastic bottles... How cool is this?!

ScienceDaily () -- Chemical Engineers developed a way to break down plastic bottles made from polyethylene terephthalate -- or PET, and recycle it back into high value uses like more soda bottles, water bottles, beer bottles. Inside the recycling plant's extruder, water is removed from ground up plastic. Then, the plastic is melted and chemically broken down -- in a process called depolymerization. The breakthrough in this process is to be able to go from chips of this plastic to the recycled material in about five minutes.

Go Green, LLC. Website

A recent addition to the website list for Life Mark Design's is Go Green. dcgogreen.com The Company started roughly a year ago with a vision to change the demolition business into a recycling business. (MY version of how they got started) Driving by home after home with a dumpster outside and knowing that all the contents were headed to the local landfill, Christian Schmidt started the business with a small crew and a flatbed truck. They geared themselves toward deconstructing houses and recycling the waste produced from the project.

Although the time involved is a few days longer than those of their demolition competition they are able to competitively price the projects because of the return they are making on the removed/recycled materials. While all the other guys are busy paying the roll off companies to hall off their trash, Christian and his crew drive the materials to collection sites that specialize in re-using those materials.

Do yourself a favor. Go to the site, learn a little more about the process and then require your contractor to do something most would not think of - RECYCLE the waste produced by your project. If you are around the DC/Northern Virginia area - give Christian a call and/or require your green builder to have him handle the waste from your project.

Regards,
LMD

Color Matters!

Do you ever wonder why most fast food signs are red, yellow, or orange? Or why those caution signs are always orange...or why every outdoor magazine that you get in the mail is always green, or some shade of brown with green accents? As I'm sure most people have already noticed (subconsciously or consciously) different colors evoke different emotional responses. Some of these feelings transcend cultural barriers, while some of the feelings are caused by specific cultural symbolism.

Valid CSS code

So... when you create a website you don't initially think about how valid your code is in other browsers - you want to get-the-site-up cause your client(s) deadlines are approaching or the client saw the site just a few days ago and knows that the design is done, etc, etc... So, you write the best code you know how and then you hope that later on you can take a few minutes and recode the areas that are not valid and get the little stamp:

but for this website. (And I know the design layout looks fairly easy) we were able to get the valid code stamp on the first try!

Congrats Team!
